After having a baby how do you know when to return to running?

By using the 'Return to Running Postnatal Guidelines' published in 2019 a detailed assessment of how your body is functioning after having a baby will be carried out.

Strength and stability are both required for running. You will be asked to do a series of exercises which incorporate both these components required for a safe return to running.

Please note this is only suitable is you are more than 12 weeks postnatal. It is not advisable to start running before this time as the pelvic floor as still in a vulnerable state and you are likely to experience complications.  A Mummy Mot would be very suitable between 6-12weeks postnatal (please see Mummy MOT).
